Macular degeration - wet

The first point of contact for treatment options should be with your eye specialist. In many cases this will be a retinal
specialist. You should always discuss any concerns, questions or information you have obtained with your specialist. The specialist is in the best position to advise you on your treatment options.

Wet Macular Degeneration (MD) occurs when abnormal blood vessels grow and leak into the retina. This process is called neo-vascularization (CNV). Neo = new and vascularisation = vessel formation.

There are currently two sections of treatments available for people with wet MD:

*
Treatments proven to be effective by controlled trials published in peer review journals
*
Experimental treatments

The treatments are not curative and aim to keep the best vision for as long as possible.

Vitamins and zinc for wet macular
Here is an eye doc's blog on AMD.

Hi Dr Bell/KiwiDoc

I'm sorry for using this post to write but I have no clue how to get this to you direct, please forgive the intrusion.
I just wanted to send you a quick note to say how cool your daughter is. Obviously you know it but wanted to let you know just how much support there is out there for Zoe around the world. It's great to see this blog and how proud you are of her and of the support she gets from you and your family (as seen in Double Dare), must mean a lot to you both. I saw Zoe at the Xena con in 2001 and still wish I'd had the nerve to go up and just say hi, thanks etc. But, seeing her go from strength to strength has been amazing, Death Proof is stunning and I can't wait to see what she does next.
Anyway, I'm rambling, but thank you for buying her that trampoline!!
And your blog is awesome, I only wish I understood half of it, hats off to you medical types.
Also, for the record I'm the same age as Zoe and don't usually hero-worship people my age, but how can I not make an exception?!
Best wishes to you and the family down in NZ, take care.
Sarah, England.
